The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 日本小忧郁式叙事，突破和没能突破在于台词，这部其实没突破，不过唬一些年轻观众还可以，毕竟是日本电影传统类型之一，氛围是可以把握的。

后半剧情上扬开始编剧和导演就像被少年把水扑进脑子里一样，又尬又低趣，用哪吒（魔童版）来当一个意向和符号真的很偷懒，和脱口秀说内部梗差不多。其实很多对少年的表现是很贴近生活的，看出来导演有专门找过相关的高中初中生短视频（或许？）

青春片该有的都有了，虽老套但不做作。和日版一样，笑着笑着就哭了。向经典致敬。
倒叙的故事有一种悲剧的宿命感，角色的性情不久就被观众了然，再回溯破碎前的美好时就更因不可挽回而动人。可是一日一日的回溯只足够“稍微想起一些”，当这些碎片不够精巧，也就削弱许多力量。
