The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 如果不了解一点背景就一定会一头雾水的电影，海报也会加剧这种莫名。而稍稍了解一点后又可以立即感觉到其中倾注的情感与复杂内容：藉由皮兰德娄的死亡与身后复杂旅程，注入对时代变化与故人离去及死亡话题的哲学思考，再由未完成的故事和创作，带出对哥哥的纪念。内容的嵌套和色彩的变化增加了层次，会令人回想起如《恺撒必须死》等精彩前作，为艺术生涯增添新的内容。

The first part in B/W could be seen as a journey to bid his brother a moving adieu by transporting the ashes of Pirandello, whose works have been adapted by the brothers, to his Sicilian homeland. Whereas the second part in color is quite confusing for us who have never read the story before. The shift from grey to color is poetic though

老外的构思已经枯竭了？拍的这个是什么？一个印度人继承了亚瑟王？是在搞笑吗？是英国籍男演员，还是新锐演员，怎么不找个黑人演？全电影没有带入感，剧情也糊里糊涂.......这电影怎么过审的？
这是一场赴死的旅程
故事讲的鸡零狗碎，而且处处卖弄高深，故弄玄虚的剧本，还总顾左右而言他，个人一直不太欣赏得了A24这个厂牌，架子常年端的高，内里的含金量也是一窥见底，琐碎又冗余，慢热且枯燥，既失去了流畅性，也没有了故事性，摄影倒是一景观，但我太不喜欢这种厂牌命题作文型的统考感，只有框架，没有拓展。★★
