The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. “我从2021年中学到什么，我明白了，没有人从2020中，涨一点教训” 套路还是一样，但是内容更保守，更无聊了，还更偏向娱乐新闻了，拜托，没人会觉得这些娱乐新闻很重要，两部看下来，我只觉得 美国人真疯狂，希望别拍2022去死了，黑人科学家还是可爱的
用几位演员客串一年中发生的大事。这方法叫做跨界或者融合。看这个片子感觉美国也有不少傻逼，甚至不比我们少。
精彩！比don't look up好看的多。现实总是如此黑暗。
可以算是伪纪录片式的美国脱口秀吧？把过去一年的全球重大事件都用调侃的方式过了一遍，很典型的美式幽默，对事件中的正反方都毫不留情的嘲讽一番，好像什么都讲了，又好像什么都没讲

1、讽刺力度比2020去死差很多；
事实再次证明，2021也是个倒霉的年头。而且更加悲哀的是，在可以预见的未来，2022也只是2020too而已。
没看这局之前，知道肯定有冲击国会事件，60分钟的时长，有差不多一半都是这个。这种嘲讽一年来一次也挺好，喜欢那个非洲口音的黑人医生。比较唐突的竟然有007这部不值得一提的烂剧。。
愚蠢的人类 荒诞的世界 让我们期待明天会更糟哈哈。。。以及，敢不敢比比看谁的素材更多。

如果问人类从过去一年中学到了什么？很遗憾，问题的答案将和2020年一样：没人吸取到一点教训，我们什么都没学到——从《2020去死》到《2021去死》就能看出。影片拍得好，下次不许再拍了——这个系列可以“去死”了。
