The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 不好看，啰里啰嗦，小资的自怨自艾，无病呻吟，典型的为赋新词强说愁。我不是太在意主角的样貌，但是为了政治正确，女主太丑了，还是黑人，我实在看不下去了。
一开场Jon Larson介绍自己是音乐剧编剧时声称one of the last my species，到如今LMM把他的故事搬上银幕，this movie is a love letter from one Musical-theater writer to another.
半自传式呈现音乐剧作家的艺术人生。故事和音乐都不太出色。

2比1有趣诶，看着看着发现老夫人是真的要去世了，提到马修猝不及防但是，马修真的是玛丽唯一真爱吧。再拍就又要打仗了，应该不会再拍了吧。看到最后的葬礼，一下子想起看唐顿故事有十几年了诶，故事中的新时代真的开启了，故事外的观众也能接受结局了。

音乐及演唱是还不错的，接地气，然而电影载体挺不适合这种形式手法的，结构上不断间离，观众不断出戏，没法持续投入情境，另外剧情也是美式套路，梦想现实，爱情友情，无甚新意，还被大段的音乐冲散，老实说，直接编成舞台音乐剧大概效果好得多
歌舞片+传记的结合，做到一些很有趣的段落，比如餐厅+交响乐，吵架+牛仔乐，试图用一个音乐剧讲述了他一生里的朋友
