The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 虽然也是政治片，不明白有的人为什么要拿这部和《南山的部长们》相比，难道因为与朴正熙有关吗，可笑。电影没有明说原型人物和事件，了解韩历史的话，就可以看出是金大中总统的故事。影子军师和备选总统从亦师亦友，到误会、渐行渐远。二人目标相同，然而，理念和方法有分歧。首尾呼应的偷鸡蛋问题足以说明一切。虽然没有惊悚元素，喜欢历史的，看下来不会觉得无趣，反而会时不时与真实对比考证。要知道，是金大中总统在任期内推进的电影分级制度，才有了今天走向世界的韩影。薛景求的皮肤可真好。
