The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 温导这电影其实是一个具备所有superhero元素的超级英雄片，塑造性感帅气的亚裔男主这点比上气还要好，以及西雅图的地下tunnel我们18到19年新年跨年夜去过！！！而且跨年那一分钟是特意断电的！看恐怖片看出了美好回忆是什么体验啊[太开心]hhh 以及温导这种超英恐怖片驾驭得那么好不如去拍黑暗正义联盟算了。对DC又有期待了（并不）

居然猜中背景了……可谓血缘啊血缘，有血才有缘。现当下还能在恐怖片里看到“异形”血屠警察局这样酣畅淋漓的动作场面，不要太过瘾。
真·脑洞大开！论不允许出现鬼应该怎么拍鬼片，内地快来学习这个套路，不要老是精神病啦~
下午玩中式恐怖密室，没玩过瘾，晚上看个恐怖片回味下。结果选错片了，温子仁的新电影太闹腾了。

虽然都猜得出来情节，但温子仁氛围塑造到位，VR模式视觉呈现很有新意，最后半小时大屠杀很过瘾，温子仁尽力了属于是。而且还整了一把姐妹情深，女性崛起。爽到就完事。
我的观影心理变化：本来以为是致命感应，然后发现是杀人直播，最后二十分钟才知道，原来是个寄生异形(字面上的)。
节奏不好的恐怖片，就会影响观感，尤其是开场15分钟，家暴+闹鬼，这是看了个啥？特效和氛围营造还行，就是剧情和转折太儿戏了，她死了，她又活了～她裂开了，她又合拢了～小学生写作文没带橡皮吗？
楳图一雄粉丝终极狂喜！今年来最愉快轻松的一次电影之旅！如果说之前的温子仁对我来说还只是小天才学霸的话，本作足以令他封神！就仿佛在灵异频道和杀人狂频道之间打开了一条隧道一样，两个频道切换自如却互不抢戏。你能够在本片中看见各位老朋友：战栗空间、阴风阵阵、狂犬病甚至是咒怨，但温子仁用他独有的复古和创新调动了所有风格，打造出完全不同的构建类型电影的模式。最为难能可贵的是他始终没有放弃温情的展示，我甚至能够体会到八九十年代类型电影那种俏皮的浪漫感。用闪烁的灯光电器作为触发恐惧的直接元素，却在画面的每个角落放满令人产生惊恐联想的暗示，不断累积直到【blank】一鼓作气爆发。他已经不是想吓人了家人们，他居然真的只是想讲一个纯粹的恐怖鬼故事啊家人们！！！
我受到了极大的精神震撼。这种制作的恐怖片，这个质感就不一样。最后的事后电影没有呈现，让人有种不爽的感觉。既然过程你塞了一点“科学”的解释进去，为什么不科学到底解释一下这东西当初怎么生出来的吗，采访采访亲妈。||此外，15岁的少女被强奸生下了这个孩子，女主被家暴唤醒了恶魔。拿剑的恶魔加百列。不错。
低配版 阴风阵阵+惊魂记。血腥值加满，后半程泄气，总以为还要有一翻儿呢。
好一个西雅图不眠夜。房屋空间的运镜，氛围营造确实非常的温子仁，潜伏、招魂的技法已经相当成熟。比较新颖的故事尝试但也未跳脱普遍亲情的框架。当然宣扬亲情难免些许老套但总是好的。
还是温子仁猛，这么老派的拍法竟然不显乏力，鬼屋+狂杀片爱好者将会得到双倍快乐。
变形场景带来的肢体不适感 犹如阴风阵阵新解的舞蹈再现
尽管一贯对温氏恐怖无感 但这部绝对是目前最喜欢的一部温子仁 前半部分确实相对平庸 较为符合通过预告和其他温子仁作品所抱有的“不高”期待 但亮点在于利用观看心理制造恐怖的巧思 我们同主角一起无法动弹的看着罪案的发生（不过依靠特效而非真正的电影语言转场拉低了这个构想的价值）导演所提及的但在预告中怎么都看不出的“德帕尔玛和柯南伯格”在影片的后半段才显山露水 相较于技法上的借鉴 温子仁更多的是将柯南伯格和德帕尔玛电影中的核心文本元素(神秘凶手 双生和人体异化)揉进了本片的文本中 而其本质还是一部温氏技法的商业类恐怖 但正是这些元素的加入令影片后半段极具压迫感与侵略性 在商业类型亦或是温子仁前作中更是前所未见 看完缓了好久 这次是温吹！类型片不死！
说实话这个精彩程度也就美国恐怖故事畸形秀那一季，任意一集拿出来加长一下吧，有点小失望，如果不是删减了太多血腥镜头可能观影体验会更好，删减弱化了视觉冲击力，另外译名里面有一个肿瘤侠实在过于恶趣味了我真......
三天分三次看完，温子仁元素都在，开头的长段过度片头，结尾的反转。这是温子仁第一部没有出现真鬼的恐怖片，风格确实挺像上个世纪的意大利铅黄电影，血浆部分很爽，但本片的缺点也很明显，过早地揭露反派，让故事缺乏了悬疑性，属于温导中等水平作品
作为非典型作者导演，明显感受到温子仁在经历二十多时奇技淫巧血脉喷张的电锯系列，三十多时稳扎稳打别具一格的招魂潜伏系列后，特别是指掌完海王后，陷入了不惑的灯枯油尽：东拼西凑了一堆元素，除了一惊一乍就是血腥……还留了一个自我和解的happy ending
