The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 没在故纸堆里挖童话，人物造型不再模仿日美漫画。
舞狮如人生，都是上山下山。不一定都能赢，但一定不能认输。只要心中还有鼓点，你就永远是那头雄狮！只要还有梦想，你就永远是那个少年！
啊啊啊结尾真好，永远带着敬意拍电影！鼓励！
周星驰式的无厘头幽默、黄飞鸿式的舞狮、阿珍阿强、阿猫阿狗、咸鱼翻身、手打牛丸、木棉花、木人桩、广普、广州街市……看到自己的家乡标志传统文化能通过如此优秀的故事弘扬传承，无比庆幸。
剧作俗套也有些糙。俗套很好理解，充斥各种港片桥段，说它糙，因为人物动机做得有些问题，和男主一起追梦的小伙伴阿狗因色起意，他却和女神阿娟没有任何交集。女神阿娟太工具人了，她出现了，她消失了，她为什么出现又消失了，剧本完全没有交代。配乐燃，结尾处理得好，半部好片，三星鼓励。
一颗星是对这个片子的评价。另一颗星是因为爱国，所以鼓励国人制作影片的不易。
不如拍个少年黄飞鸿。加那么多没用的花头，上什么价值，20分钟那场哭连中二都算不上，至不至于，太强行了。跟洗脑似的把slogan念那么多遍就是意义了？这跟××自信有什么分别？跟“舞狮”的关系甚至都不大，就像《灌篮高手》，重要的是篮球吗？把个狮子毛做那么好，衣服、头发都什么东西，3D恶心死了，2D回来啊！！手绘回来啊！！
很久没有底层人民的故事了。对一扫而过的那些镜头反而有了升华的感触——穿着一样工服的快递员，在店门口早上喊加油的房产中介，通勤路上买包子的普通白领。。。大家都不要忘记听自己心里的声音呀！
三星，最后所有狮队一起打鼓加0.5星。

虽然台词和剧情还有进步空间，但是从视效风格的制作和在地文化的表达来看，称得上有国漫自己的风味了。以及…五条人的道山靓仔、椅子乐团的rolling on，还有九连真人的莫欺少年穷，首首击中我了555
2⃣️还有就是舞狮这个题材非常非常新，虽然人物画的真的不好看但整体作画运镜还是很流畅的，特别是舞狮的动作；
2022.01.31 二刷粤语版，超多俗语超多梗，观感比普通话版好太多。以动画为叙事媒介，虽有些稍嫌夸张化违和的部分，却也反而得以刻画到了真人电影因拍摄或者审查限制所无法触及的现实边界。前半段没预期那么不堪，结尾高潮也没想像中那么燃，倒是中段因情感细节填充得足够翔实而相当动人。尽管模式套路化，依旧没忍住落泪了好几次。初看是个周星驰式小人物咸鱼翻身奋力向上的励志悲情喜剧，彩蛋却画风一转把主角拉回了不见尽头的劳碌现实。舞狮登顶的风光无限不过是对于先前旷日持久落魄挣扎的一次愤懑宣泄，再努力也难以看到出路才是这种生活的真正底色。二十多年前，大家或许还相信登上一个巅峰之后，一切都会开始变得更好，如今的励志文本之下则可能更多潜藏了对现实发出的诘问：“赢了又如何？” 而这个问题，又有谁能短时间内给出答案。
编剧的烂梗是真的尬住，剧情老套，但是探讨的阶级/梦想之议题值得鼓励
如果有让人感觉热血沸腾的话，那应该是真的吧。听到这句话，又觉得真真切切被煽到了，哪怕只有一瞬间呢，那也都是真的啊，真的励志，真的不服输，真的在扬眉吐气啊，小人物的故事永远是激动人心，哪怕沾染上这么多现实中的是是非非。
《雄狮少年》是可以安利给成年人的浪漫动画，是敢突破一些桎梏和枷锁的，是想做出一些东西的，是有勇气舍弃一些东西的，瑕不掩瑜值得票价，可以看看。
8.0 看到了早期的成龙片，怀疑这片是卢正雨监制的中段太神似了。虽然还是用台词和大道理去拉升剧情，但李白这段太燃了。结尾的鼓点太爆炸了。气氛拉满，配乐出色。唯一的问题是节奏稍微有点快，感觉开了1.25倍速，太急。彩蛋最后的片尾曲《无名之人》请一定要听完“无名的人啊 我敬你一杯酒，
本精神广东人太喜欢里面的岭南元素了！在大屏幕上看到真实的中国农村、中国城市风景，特别特别惊喜。粤西山里的雾气，村里的宗祠，街道上的骑楼，雨林里的佛像，大排档褪色的手写招牌，收音机里传来的粤剧，煲仔饭皮蛋粥云吞面，舞狮里的招式讲究，还有路人不时的粤语，五条人和九连真人的音乐，浓浓的在地元素。缺点是前半段文戏不行，台词略矫情。但整体苍凉的现实主义底色，让煽情不媚俗。阿珍爱上了阿强，但城市千金阿娟没有爱上农民工阿娟。一次次鞋子的特写，由脚窥见阶级。《莫欺少年穷》是雄狮与英雄花的幻想，《无名的人》才是留守儿童到打工人的现实。
励志片有时候会把观众的视域逼得太窄，比如这部编导在每一个转折点都像打地桩一样对你吼了一句“你要做一头雄狮吗！！？”所以电影到后半段，我耳边只剩下这一句话了，妈的不要做咸鱼啊！妈的顶峰相见啊！少年强则国强啊！道山靓仔啊！老势势啊！澎湃是很澎湃了，但是撸完也就撸完了。无论怎样都是今年最好的一部华语院线。
国产燃系天花板（刚开始：这都是俗套，不值得动情；到后来：哭吧！不忍了！谁说大人就不可以哭了）
